December Bodhitree Commemoration

A quiet December commemoration of the awakening under the Bodhi tree.

What it is, and when it falls

December.

A commemoration of the night of the awakening, kept in December when much of the country is at rest and families are together.

It is deliberately the quietest day in our year: long sitting, little speaking, a short teaching at the end.

Why it matters

The awakening happened in silence, over one night, with nobody watching. The commemoration keeps that shape.
